Before moving to the United States in search of a brighter future and attending Tennyson High School in Hayward for her senior year, Spozhmey Munir was born and raised in Afghanistan.

This summer, Maxine Gutierrez embarked on a journey to unravel the secrets of plant metabolism. The second year master鈥檚 student in biological sciences is interning at the Carnegie Institute for Science at Stanford, working on the Sorghum Metabolic Atlas (SMA) project.
